Work as a Remedy Good Practices Book EN
"Sometimes it's really hard, I really wnated to work, but the frequent pain limited me a lot. According to the authorities, it is not for a disability pension, if I had at least level I, they would have taken me to a sheltered workshop. I looked at the advertisements every day, trying to find a job that would suit me, but always without success. The counselor at the Labor Office then put me in touch with you," says Michaela. Since then, Michaela has been trying to find a suitable job that she could handle, but as she says, it was a big problem for her. She also received an offer for sheltered workshops, however, she does not have a disability pension, only a confirmation that she has a health problems, but it does not provide any financial support or employment relief and therefore did not meet the criteria to be employed at the sheltered workshops. Together we then thought about a suitable job and found a solution. Coincidentally, one of our cooperating employers, who owns a restaurant, needed part-time cleaning and kitchen help. "I was ready to take any job, when you are at home for a long time and you know that you are often not well, it is not an easy situation. It is psychologically demanding, especially when you are in pain, it tends to fall into skepticism and hopelessness, and the financial situation becomes unbearable. A job as a cleaner or a cook assistant was not my dream, but I'm happy to have it now. I have my own system at work, it suits me that I can work for a while, do what needs to be done, then perhaps rest for a while and continue. It's good for me that it's half -time and I manage it well. It's just not ideal from a financial point of view." When asked whether the employer was willing to adapt some things to the fact that Michaela is indisposed, she answers he was a it was a relief. "Dalibor ( the employer) is a very nice person, the best boss I've ever had. We have a nice relationship, if only every employer was like him, people would really enjoy coming to work every day," she says with a smile.
